Change is coming be part of it!

14 May 2010: New Government? Same campaign for change!
Category: News
Posted by: Toon

Since our formation in 2005 we have been responsible for many headline grabbing media stunts, we are made up of former coordinators and the top activists from the F4j movement mark I (circa 2002-2005), the reasons we broke away are covered in this BBC documentary from 2006 Davey says; Radio 4 Law in Action is researching for a programme on Family Law and in paricular CAFCASS and social services share your experiences here; www.lucy.proctor@bbc.co.uk

It is about time the BBC did a robust report on our cause!!
Real Fathers offer free professional help and support to anyone facing injustice in family law, we are an open and accountable civil rights campaign group, not a trademarked Limited company, and we welcome new members and supporters to get actively involved.

With notable campaigners being conspicuous by their absence until March 2010, an alliance of family law reformers, including Rffj coordinators, have been meeting with Conservative MPs Henry Bellingham, Michael Gove and their respective teams for around 3 years to discuss much needed changes in family law should they take office.

Meanwhile in Northern Ireland, key members have been conducting talks with politicians and stakeholder groups responsible for policy change (full report to follow)

We will wait and see if the changes promised to us come into effect, but we must keep the pressure on and tell our MPs that family law is not working.

Rffj say there is no monopoly or copyright on family law protests, to achieve our goals we must all network together respectfully and peacefully, despite any differences.

Rffj will concentrate efforts on continuing the campaign to change family law, we are here to stay, not a revolving door group that disappoints members by reopening and closing down every time the going gets tough, Rffj won’t make legal threats to sue and attempt to destroy the work of those who are campaigning for the same.

Campaigners must put aside their egos and work as one to ensure the much needed reforms are implemented; support any group you like but we must take a united message to the politicians that the best parent is BOTH parents.

With the spirit of cooperation in mind, we ask members and supporters to attend a protest being organised by New fathers for justice, Saturday, 24 July 2010 Carry on camping >Click here< for more details

Rffj welcome the review of family law as pledged by the new coalition government The document states: We will encourage shared parenting from the earliest stages of pregnancy – including the promotion of a system of flexible parental leave. We will put funding for relationship support on a stable, long-term footing, and make sure that couples are given greater encouragement to use existing relationship support. We will conduct a comprehensive review of family law in order to increase the use of mediation when couples do break up, and to look at how best to provide greater access rights to non-resident parents and grandparents.

Rffj spokesman Mike Kelly said:
“This document is definitely a step in the right direct, after 5 years of Rffj protest and 3 years of talking to opposition MPs, it’s pleasing to see they have listened to the talks and have looked at the reasons behind the protests”

“The campaign is far from over yet, we must continue to push for a legal presumption of Shared Parenting”

“There is a long way to go before parents have a level playing field when they divorce or separate, the government must remove the ‘winner takes all’ system where false allegations are taken as fact and where contact orders are ignored with impunity”

“The system is beset by delay, incompetence and mismanagement, costs can spiral and support is non existent”

So as I have suggested before “Tell him about it” on his shiney new website;
http://www.number10.gov.uk/footer/contact-us
“Family law judges and professionals should be held to account for their mistakes, proceedings must be open and judgements transparent”
“Until the scales of justice are truly working equitably and openly, then expect to see more action from us”

I am grateful to Toon at RFFJ for the heads up on this one! Davey

Coronation Street and Family Law !

As someone who has watched Coronation Street since the early 60's I can say overall their story lines are the most credible and today cover aspects of Family Law , possibly a little more subtly then I might like, but the only soap to do so!

You may wonder would a mother who is a convicted murderer be able to pursue a claim for custordy for her child even though the child is being cared for by the childs father and new wife? There are cases in the real world where drug dealing mothers are indeed given care of their children when a perfecly good father is on hand to take on the role and responsability! Are Social Services really qualified to judge who is a suitable parent even to foster or adopt when so often it is the same department that is seperating children from their loving Dads (mostly) but less often their mothers, and I have the ironic situation of having my own children withheld by the mother but the local council often send me mailshots on adopting or fostering??
Grandparents have no legal course of redress if they lose contact with their grandchildren, except in extenuating circumstances or money and very rare, just ask Radio Presenter James Whale who devoted a whole chapter to his book and the pain he went through when his son was alienated from his child and as a double whammy at a time James was diagnosed with Cancer!

T.V presenter Gloria Hunniford also campaigns for more involvement of grandparents when parents are having problems as opposed to the involvement of Social Services and something I endorce fully. Perhaps it is the parents that need to be taken to one side , into care if you like rather then the kids , whilst they learn the basics of parental responsability!

Fathers are being seperated
from their children on every Street in the land and around the world, it is called;

Parental Alienation Syndrome!

This can be inflicted by an vengeful mother, but is condoned by the Family Law system, and supported by the erronious mother's extended family who in the eyes of the law are 'civil' whilst the law cannot deal with a caring fathers so seek to 'criminalise' them!

Society could not give a 4X for the father but for the sake of the children and society as a whole there has to be the recognition the reform is long overdue and has to be reformed NOW! Davey

Our new Justice Minister?

Contrary to my earlier comment, I have been given the heads up (thanks Haahoo) that this could be our future Justice Minister Henry Bellingham and the man to watch in the coming Parliament!

I understand he has muted words like reform of the Family Law system, I wonder if he will be asked to work with John Hemming M.P. no bad thing in my view! Davey

So as we venture into the unknown of a Con-Lib-Dem Gov.co.uk we will have to see what the future will hold and especially for those of us campaigning

Lest we forget!

Lest we forget!
In the year we saw the last of the World War One ‘Tommy’s’ complete his journey on this earth and many World War Two warriors now considering how many more memorials they will attend especially in foreign lands, we appreciate what their lives and those who did not return stand for in giving us freedom of speech and a quality of life many of us take for granted and my thoughts of my late father a peace loving man facing the horror of war from the rear gunning turret of a Lancaster Bomber.
