As someone who has been employed in the British road haulage industry for the past 35 years I had to look on in awe when the French were not satisfied with what their Government had to offer and with immediate effect the shutters were drawn down on the country. To be more precise the borders would be sealed the Farmers would blockade roads with their equipment, no commercial vehicle wheel would roll and if they really pulled it off the airport workers would go on strike too!
Here in the UK we have had a few whoop and grunt convoys when the fuel prices got out of hand, but when everyone packed up and went home nothing had changed and we still pay through the nose for fuel and in turn for everything delivered to the superstores. Curiously our fuel is always that little bit more then our fellow European members putting us at a disadvantage before a single ignition key was turned and can you imagine us blockading the borders we would be deemed uncompetitive and non European ( I put my hand up to that last comment) and don’t forget when the ports are blockaded that is not France coming to a halt but the whole of Europe and when you hear of ‘Operation Stack’ where the police ‘park’ coast bound trucks on the M20 in Kent destined for Dover and Folkestone there are trucks from all over waiting to cross including those from Scotland and Ireland who have already travelled from Stranraer and Holyhead and beyond first!

In much the same way we in the Family Law reform Campaign are doing the very same thing we all support and promote our individual causes we all have our blogs and individual area’s of interest but as a campaign for change we are all whistling in the wind ( or peeing in the ocean). I propose, as it was always my intention, to advocate my website as a ‘HUB’ for all our causes around the world as this is only going to be won on a global scale. Why should Obama ( Mr. or Mrs.) do anything if Kevin Rudd does not improve Australia’s lot, Why should Stephen Harper change Canada’s laws if the out going Brown and in coming Cameron do not match the law to our supreme court? So put your date on the calendar and we all promote that cause so that everyone who can will attend such as Oxford England on the 10th to 12th April 2010 those who cannot attend or live abroad should then lobby politicians something you can do very effectively from your PC write to the media. Murdoch’s empire seems ripe for taking our message around the world as is talking on a local radio stations we need to keep the pressure up then when it is the turn of the Family Preservation Festival in Washington DC July 23rd to 25th 2010 we should reciprocate again campaigning in support of those attending as well as the similar festivals happening from state to state and at the same time there is nothing stopping those of us in Melbourne , Singapore, Greece, Germany, Portugal, Wellington, Johannesburg, Ontario or London campaigning for the cause of the day or weekend and so on and unlike the Facebook causes they will be a purpose and a result when we all focus our attentions in the same direction and unlike Facebook we won’t head down a dead end and there will not be a charge we can however pool our resources for a more focused campaign ;
